This provocative poem was written by the teenage daughter of a friend:<\/p>\n

I want to paint a picture
\nusing my whole set of paint.<\/p>\n

\n

A picture black, white, brown,
\npurple and green<\/p>\n

Of me, you, him and them.
\nOf trees with flowers.
\nOf clouds full of rain, ready to
\nwash away violence and a little of pain.<\/p>\n

A picture of lights
\nshining onto us all<\/p>\n

A picture of warm tea
\ntasting like sweet lavender<\/p>\n

A picture of children
\npicking flowers in the garden<\/p>\n

A picture of rainbows
\nA picture of song
\nA picture of colors that make the world spin<\/p>\n

I want to paint a picture
\nwith laughs and with dreams<\/p>\n

My picture will have strangers
\nwho smile on the street<\/p>\n

It will have friends who hug us
\nAnd pets who are warm<\/p>\n

It will have eyes that see beauty
\nAnd pianos that sing
\npens that write stories
\nAnd murals on walls<\/p>\n

I want to paint a picture
\nusing my whole set of paint,
\nusing all of the colors,
\nand none of the hate.<\/p>\n
